Disney Ditches Spike Lee’s Colin Kaepernick Docuseries

It takes a lot to keep Spike Lee quiet.

The Oscar winner’s hot takes are legendary, and he weighs in on everything from black cinema to the current White House occupant.

Yet he can’t spare a syllable about his just-canceled Colin Kaepernick docuseries? Did the cat get his tongue?

No. The NDA did.

Lee offered an extended “no comment” on the red carpet over the weekend as news of his Kaepernick series’ demise hit the Internet. He cited a non-disclosure agreement for his silence.

Disney ordered the docuseries from the auteur, but that was before the public pumped the brakes on the woke revolution. Now, the Mouse House has little appetite for a close-up on the Left’s favorite former athlete.

We’ve seen a crush of signs, both large and small, that Hollywood is finally listening to the public when it comes to woke overreach.

Long story short? No thanks, we collectively said.

It’s why Disney nixed a trans storyline in its Disney+ series “Win or Lose.” It explains the pro-Life and pro-Heartland messaging in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Superman,” respectively.

Had Sydney Sweeney boasted about her good genes in a jeans ad two years ago, she would have been forced into making a “hostage”-style apology, complete with a vow to be an “ally” moving forward.

Instead, Sweeney ignored the far-Left caterwauling and kept cashing those American Eagle checks.

Now, one of Hollywood’s most outspoken progressives has been silenced on two fronts. He can’t share the behind-the-scenes drama behind the show’s cancellation. And it appears he won’t be able to shop the series to a competing network.

Reports say the project is dead.

Lee, a far-Left provocateur on matters of race, likely aimed to push Kaepernick as a victim of racial injustice. It’s safe to say that Disney, watching the woke bubble burst in real time, knew that would be a tough sell in 2025 America.

Is there another explanation?

Lee suffered another public relations blow this week.

His new film “Highest 2 Lowest” received a modest theatrical rollout, a far cry from what a director of his stature typically receives. A24, which produced the film along with Apple, didn’t provide box office numbers for its opening weekend.

That’s another bad sign.

The far-Left Hollywood Reporter says indications are the film enjoyed a “tepid” reception at the box office despite Lee teaming with Denzel Washington for the fifth time.
